But Cit -Count Eludes 2nd Time WHS runner looks for ball while other team hopes for an out. Williams Varsity Baseball of 1975 was un- able to claim City-County title for a second straight year, losing to Eastern Alamance in the first round of tournament play. They did, however, manage to finish the season with an impressive 10-7 won-lost record. The biggest wins were over conference competitors Reids- ville, Morehead, Parkland, West Forsyth, High Point Andrews, and Cummings. The team was young, consisting mostly of juniors, some sophomores and a few seniors. Outstanding senior players were Yank Yar- borough and Neal Bradley. Of the juniors Billy Cole and Ricky Johnson exhibited the best effort. W.H.S. awards went to Ricky Johnson, for the best batting average, and pitchers, Stan Queen and Lynn Howard received most out- standing player awards. All,-in-all, they had a good season, but Coach Van Turner and players of 1976 look to a more successful record.
