4-.4 . Herb Faulkenberry tells students all about backing. ra. -q Siwga Mini-spectacular Is Controversial The 1975 Mini-Spectacular was given on March 19. Sophomores and Juniors registered for four courses, while Seniors went to three classes and had the option of dropping the fourth one. Unfortunately many students 'droppedi the entire day. Coach Evans said, They just left campusn. He estimated about 300 students skipped their classes. Most of those who left school were Juniors and Seniors. The Sophomores had never had a Mini-Spec- tacular before and perhaps because of the newness, most of them enjoyed it. The students who stayed around had a really great time. They could take anything from weightlifting to ballroom dancing. Some of the more popular courses were those dealing with hypnotism and the supernatural. The course on the Kennedy Assassination, which featured a copy of the Zapruder film was also 20 a big hit. Students were fortunate to have Nicky Cruz, evangelist, author, and former hood. His class was full every period. There were two assembly programs which were generally considered failures. The soph- omores got to see a film of fairly humerous foot- ball 'bloopers', but Juniors and Seniors were subjected to a film of NBA highlights. Although all the students who attended enjoyed the spectacular, due to the absences Mr. Harrington said the day was sort of dis- appointing? He also felt we couldn't ask the 50-some people who taught the courses to get off work every year.Based on these conclusions, there won't be another Mini-Spectacular for 2 years. The plans are to have one every 3 years. That means that perhaps the Class of '78 will get to attend a Mini-Spectacular when they are Seniors.
