School Administration ..v ' MR. Hfxfeizimetom Pfihdpdi As he shoulders the duties and responsibilities of guiding a large high school to new goals, Mr. Harrington is aware ot his tremendous tasks. For tour years he has served as principal ot WHS. Each year the school has grown in size and scope. This year he has demonstrated his capacity tor leadership MR. WHITEHURST during the evaluation conducted by the Southern Association ot Secondary Schools and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Because he works for us and with us, we talce pride in commending Mr. Harrington tor his dedica- tion to duty. Assistant Principal In his new position and surroundings. Mr. Zeb Whitehurst demonstrates daily why he has been selected assistant principal at WHS coming to us trom his duties as As- sistant Principal at Turrentine Junior High School, he tits easily into the day-to-day routine ot our lite at Williams. A high-light ot his work this year has been the etticiency with which he handled his taslcs as Co-chairman ot the North Carolina Student Congress Committees. Working with Mrs. Bright in the important iolo. the committees have been able to guide this year's N.C.S.C.C. at Burlington to a successtul session. His dedication to duty and his personal integrity earn tor Mr. Whitehurst the DOE-WAH- JACK'S badge ot approval.

Etfective School Policies School Board Composed ot civic-minded members appointed by the Burlington City Council, the Burlington Board of Educa- tion perform their duties without pay. Appointed for six year staggered'terms. their duties include encourag- ing the development and improvement of the city's edu- cational program, electing a superintendent of schools. and adopting all:-udget. Administrative Staff To capably handle and co-ordinate the varied programs and activities in the schools of the Burlington City School System is the difficult task admirably performed by the administrative staff.
