Vvas made Professor at Smith College in 1881, and in the same year was called to 1Villiams as Professor of Natural History. Leland Miller Professor of History. 1n 1903 was made Professor of the History of Art and Vivilization. Made Emeritus Professor in 1911. Professor Hewitt was called to 1Villiams in 1882 as Garfield Professor of Ancient Languages. ln 1903 hecame Lawrence Professor of Greek.
