Who's Who Among College Students The five students selected from the senior class to represent Penn College in the 1958-59 edition of WHO'S WHO AMONG STUDENTS IN AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES are Ruth Ferguson, Clara Lee Locker, Robert Martin, Mary Steddom, and Leroy Steffen. This honor is bestowed on senior students on the basis of their scholarship, leader- ship, citizenship, service, participation in school affairs, and promise of future useful- ness, This organization recognizes students nominated from approximately 750 colleges and universities. Ruth Ferguson is a home economics major and plans to teach after graduation. She is president of Penn's Home Ec club and vice president of the state Home Ec Associa- tion. Ruth also participates in band, choir, ISEA, SCA, and Pi Kappa Chi. Clara Lee Locker is an English major. Her minor is religion. This year she is pres ident of SCA and a member of Home Ec club, Pi Kappa Chi, and the choir. She has also served as editor of the QUAKER, Robert Martin is majoring in religion. At present, he is the pastor of the Eddyville, Chillicothe, and Columbia Methodist Churches. He is active in school affairs, helping with deputation work, SCA, and singing in the choir. After graduation he will attend serni nary. Mary Steddom's interests lie in the fields of elementary education and music. She is president of ISEA and serves as one of Penn's cheerleaders. She is also a member of the choir, band, SCA, and Home Ec club. Leroy Steffen is a physical education major and plans to coach after graduation. This year Leroy is president of the Student Council and a member of the Letterman's Club, SCA, and ISEA.

Student Council OFFICERS PRESIDENT .... . . LEROY STEFFEN VICE PRESIDENT ...... . . DONALD KERR SECRETARY-TREASURER . . . . LOIS LAYMILLER The Student Council is the representative group of the student body at William Penn College. This group consists of the president of each of the four classes, an elected representative from each class and a representative from both the Women's and Men's Dormitories. Their duties are to assist, and at times direct, the various activities throughout the year. The Council meets regularly on the first Wednesday of the month and the policy forming committee meets on the third Wednesday of the month. This year the Council has aided in relieving some of the congested parking and exit problems by installing the one-way signs. Another project was raising funds for the Crippled Children.
