Une Elma of 1947 EDNA HADLEY ELEANOR CADWALLADER MARION VAN DYKE Vice-President President Secretary - Treasurer In the midst of the years of war, in 1943, a group of boys and girls, smaller than usual, came to the Penn campus for the first time-the class of 1947. They began their days here with a bang, by disappearing from the campus on the night of Faculty Filibuster, the traditional night for their initiation to begin. The daring and original spirit which found that early expression is still to be found in the class, though tempered now by three years of college experience, experience in college sports, classrooms, work activities, writing for the Chronicle, and establishing the Penn Playdium. And the greatest expression of the talent of the class is found in the Quaker for this year. And so these are the juniors, standing now three quarters of the way through the experience of college living, looking eagerly forward to the final year ahead, and to what lies beyond. 28
