we aww, We 5:44 The guiding iniiucnce of any student body is its faculty. To a great extent a studentfs thoughts and ideals are directed by classroom discussions. William Penn College is fortunate in havinf: a faculty committed to the highest standards and ideals, and vitally interested in helping' the students with whom they are Working' to become worthwhile citizens of the world. lVIr. and Mrs. EDWIN MCGREW Though they have been absent from the campus for several years, President Emeritus and Mrs. McGrew are still remembered by a numlwr of friends at William Penn College. We are deeply indebted to tln-se two who have given so freely and unselfishly of their time and ene1'Qrj,' to the college in the past.

PRESIDENT HINSHAW To the students of William Penn College: HILE NATIONS have locked arms in titanic conflict, while incomprehensible tragedy has stalked the world, while men have sought des- perately to turn from ways of war to paths of peace, we have engaged in the life mirrored in these pages. Dimly we sense now what we shall confidently assert many years hence-that en- during, imperishable values are inextricably interwoven with the fun and frivolity, the happi- ness and heartaches, the loyalties and friendships, the aspirations and hopes here recorded. More permanent than Penn's sturdy buildings, more lovely than her campus in springtime, more thrill- ing than the beautiful strains of the Messiah, is that which we have visioned here together- dreams of peace and brotherhood, ideals of sacri- ficial service, and abiding faith in God and man. Cecil Hinshaw 'OR THE members of the class of 1947, DEAN MEKEEL me all hope that this year has been one of the most vital and profitable they have experienced. In a period of dislocation and uncertainty such as we are now passing through, a true sense of values is needed as much as, if not more than, ever before. It is in a college grounded on ideals of brotherhood and service that such a sense of values should develop and deepen. One of the chi-ef aims of William Penn College is to be a laboratory for community living where through study and life we may come to appreciate and understand such principles of action in preparation for the y-ears ahead. The Junior Class has done much to foster a fuller realization of this ideal. The challenge for the final year is to help the college commu- nity make our fellowship richer as we attempt to achieve this aim even better than before.
