Founded in 1901, Clio is the oldest girls' society in the school. Each year the society renders its services to the school in many ways. Its members Ruth Ensminger Advisor K S ,V7 f ' K V , . 1 Qi! VV, . . VLV,V H , X are outstanding in almost every phase of school life. Membership in its ranks is purely elective. This year Clio presented in auditorium a melo- drama entitled Squaw lllinterf' Each meeting is highlighted with an original literary program from which the girls not only get enjoyment but gain knowledge and experience.

Treasurer Edward Walters Advisor The Alpha Debating Society is the oldest or- ganization in William Penn. They have had a long and prosperous history. The society meets every Monday evening. Programs consist of de- bating, public speaking, dramatics and training in Parliamentary Procedure. Each year the school looks forward to the A.D.S. assembly program which is always ex- cellent. Candidates for membership are seen wearing the gold and black ties. They undergo a tedious initiation willingly since it is an honor to be the wearer of an Alphan pin.
