WPC focused on our country s energy requirements when it hosted a traveling energy exhibit on Decem- ber 10. The exhibit, sponsored by the American Pelroleurr, Institute, fea- tured a Road Boss Tractor •, cb t o.iin ped with fuel-saving device; a visible wind deflector, design-i,; i cut horsepower, and a )ov RPK engine. The exhibit included pir. ' to- graphs, slides, charts, graphs onoi films on expanded oil production, conservation, and environmen+ai pro- tection. Other parts of the exhibit were concerned with potentials for nuclear, geothermal, and solar power. Wightman Gym was the site of the 42nd Annual Christmas Tournament of the Women ' s Fencing Association. The competition brought 105 fencers from 27 east coast colleges to Wayne to vie for the six annual awards. WPC ' s entries were Carol Burgaletta, Cindy Garabedian, Paula Nicolosi, and Mary Anne Kell; with Nancy Cuneo and Pat Stewart as alternates. Paula Nicolosi went out in the first round, Mary Anne in the sec- ond, and Carol in the third. Cindy Garabedian advanced the farthest making it to the semifinals. The com- petition lasted from eight in the morning until well past eight that night. Finally after almost I 3 hours of competition. Ann Marie Williams from Brootlyn College took the first place medal. Brooklyn ' s Jean Douglas placed second, third place went to Ohio State ' s Jill Tremaine, fourth was taken by Jeanette Starks of Brooklyn.
