Pioneers Place 4th In ' Metro ' GOLF Ranked third in the state and fourth In the East, the Golf Team achieved an impressive season. Co- captains Hank Handchen and Mike Potochnak led the Black-and-Orange mto a winning 8-5 record. The highlight of the season was when the Pioneers placed fourth, out of 32 colleges and universities, in the 27th Annual Metropolitan Associa- tion s Individual and Team Champi- onship In May. The Metro Tourney saw the Pioneers place in the top ten for the second consecutive year. Sen- ior Jack McCormack took fifth place individual honors among the 132 entries, the best any WPC golfer has achieved. McCormack was also named All-Conference this year because of his 10-3 record and 78.1 average for I 8 holes and Most Valua- ble Player for the third consecutive year. Next year, Coach Will Myers has a group of experienced golfers includ- ing Potochnak who finished his season with a 7-3-2 slate, John MancinI, and Bill Pike, to capture the ' 77 confer- ence crown. c - ' ,= ' W ' »r.
