The Varsity Basketball Team, coached by Mr. Jon Hopkins, end- ed the '71-'72 season with eleven wins and seven loses. The Comets scored 1179 points against 978 for their opponents. Olaf Faulkner led the team inassists with 84 assists. Jeff Peck pulled down 280 rebounds to lead the Comets in rebounding. Greg Meihers led in scoring with 126 field goals and 67 free throws. for a total of 325 points. The highlight of regular season play was a 75-64 win over Springs-' boro in the last league game of the season. This Mason victory was the only loss suffered by the FAVC champions. Mason with a one-point loss to Little Miami and an early season over-time loss to Springs- boro, finished with a 10-2 league record to take second in League competition. Greg Meibers was named FAVC Player of the Year and was First Team FAVC. Jeff Peck was named to the Second Team; Olaf Faulkner to the Third Team; and Casey Fox received Honorable Mention. Meibers was firstteam Class AA All-Southwe stern Ohio District Bas- ketball Team and was the Western Star Most Valuable Player. Peck was named to the third team and Faulkner received honorable men- tion. Peck was also first teamwith Meibers on Western Star and Fau- lkner received honorable mention. Ter leaps for the rebound!
