1971 Marching Band umuuununno- The 1971 Mason Marching Band, composed of 63 members, under the direction of Mr. Q James Rauch had a very rewarding year. Half-time entertainment was provided for the spectators of our home Varsity football games by the '71 Marching Band. The band participated in several special performances in addition to their half-time performances. Special activities included marching in the Community Unity parade and participating in the Ohio State Fair. Specialized activities of the band included Christmas and Spring concerts, pep band for basketball games and stage band for the mu- sical and graduation exercises. Peggy Botkin, a senior, was chosen as the 1971-72 Student Director. Peggy intends to pursue a musical career upon her graduation. . r - Percussmn a e. Student Government 'Senior Government officials confer with Municipal Court Judge Zopff. November 2 was election day for Senior government classes. After proper regis- tration procedures were completed, they went to the polls to elect their own city officials. The officials that were elected are as follows: Mayor-Fred Zopff, Vice-Mayor -Ra.ndy Andrews, Council-Mike Bowling, Jay Krouse, Jerry Spaeth, Randy Hayes, Clerk- Steph Tucker, Treasurer-Bernie Burchard, and Municipal Court Judge - Bill Pugh. After elections, the Council met to appoint pos itions to the other city officials. On November 8, all officials spent the day with the Mason Officials. Seniors sat sat in on court cases, checked Life Squad and Fire equipment and attended a council meeting. 97
