Seniors Merit Scholarships, Honors DON ELLIOTT PAUSES while studying College Algebra. Don was Harrison's first National Merit Scholar, also the ARION AWARD WINNERS Marifran Bustion, David only one in Evansville this year. He was also designated a . C b resented to the student body. Yale University Scholar by that college. Locker, and Linda re 5 are P Accounting for half of the city,s 20 National Merit Schol- arship Finalists this year were ten Harrison seniors. Head- ing this list were Don Elliott, Gwen Gordon, Robin Griep. Bob Groves. Bill Horn and Melanie Kell. Also included were John Thomson, Susan Turner, Frank Walker and Sandy Worthington. Honored with the Quota Club Award for the outstanding senior girl was Sandy Worthington. Sandy was selected on the basis of such qualities as leadership and scholarship. The DAR Good Citizi'enship Citation goes to the senior boy and girl who are deemed dependable, patriotic leaders. ChOSen by their advisors and history teachers were seniors George Coleman and Pam Forney. Selected on the basis of their extra-currieular activities, seniors Sallye Fink and Bob Zimmerman were honored with the Youth Appreciation Award for the uYouth of the Day. The Youth Appreciation Award is sponsored by the Op- timist Club. The Arion Award is a music achievement award. The recipient is judged on his knowledge and proficiency with mu51c.
