CCMM U N ITY if Woodland Hills, the community surrounding Tait High, has a history going back almost a century. ln l854 Woodland Hills and the south 'QW' halt of the San Fernando Valley was owned by Mr. Lankershim and Mr. Van Nuys. Then in 1858, Miguel Leonis arrived to this part ot the valley to live and soon took over the land. K tx ky ln 1923, vi6f6f Giffma Subaiviaea 2,886 acres of land 1616 6,826 ' W ll - lots. This created a small community and tor the next eighteen years, , the area was known as Girand. Qver the next ten years, the popula- tion of Girand strongly increased and in l94l the community ot mm , V x Girand was formally changed to Woodland Hills. Woodland Hills 5 ,X S has grown to a population ot approximately 86,000 residents.
