C ADVISOR'S MESSAGE This year's Atinian staff was burstingly alive with enthusiasm, school spirit and amazing ideas. From the first day of class, they teamed up on all sorts of promotion and design plans. They sold more ads than any other staff in Taft's history so that they could add a bonus section after the club section, adding forty- four pages to the book. They also used the extra money to add color in the sports section and transform the seniors into color. This staff handled themselves in a really mature, responsible way. They took it upon themselves to work before school, during breaks and on weekends when necessary, insisting on double-copy proofing and high quality design copy, photography and art. And a special thanks to our editors Brian and Michelle, who worked many extra hours designing, proofing and alphabetizing their Saturdays away. They always came through on deadlines. And they always saved their pink Starbursts just for me. T .r KA EDITOR'S MESSAGE What do you get when you gather twenty talented people? The 1986-87 Atinian staff. Without them, you would never have received this wonderful book full of memories, color and fun. For seven grueling months, the staff worked to meet their deadlines - we thank them for their hard work. Lara Blau was this year's Copy Editor. She wrote all of the exciting copy on the administrators and school events such as Homecoming and Fall Formal. The graduating class of 1987 should help us give a big thank you to the Senior Class Editors, Devon Wolf and Ami Rosenquist. Their lobs consisted ot taking care of the portraits, What Can 1 Say , and the Senior Poll. Robert Katz was our Clubs and Activities Editor. 1-le worked like crazy to get all the clubs together for pictures. lt was a tough job and he Wm the right man for it. David Wing headed our photo department. His staff included Courney Cook. Robert Katz, Wendy Saunders, Brian Otchis, and Lysa Nemiroff. Without their patience and devotion we would have had no pictures. lf you love art, then you should give our art staff a pat on the back. Robert Friedman lead an incredible group of artists in making our art additions spectacular. They worked on the trivia cards and numerous art pieces, His staff included Andrew Burward-lrloy, Aaron Douglas, Takako Kato, and Col- lin St. lohns. 1-low were the pages designed? Well, rust ask lill Rothman and Shani Ver- chick, our Layout Editors. They concentrated on laying out the pages and making sure all the pictures, art and copy would fit. One, two, three strikes and youre outl Thanks to lill lutovsky and Ben Lawler, our Sports Editors, the Sports Section finished with flying colors. They worked hard to study our schools sports statistics and planned out the section very carefully to make sure every sport was represented with plenty of photos. Kim Smith, our Underclass Editor, worked intensely on the underclass photos and events. She made sure each grade was represented equally. She put a lot of work into it and the results, as you can see, are outstanding. Wendy Saunders, our Ad Editor, made us push for ads everyday. Without her constantly asking for more ads to be sold, our yearbook would not have had color senior portraits and more pages. But thanks to Wendy, we have all of the above. With the help of our advisor, Kathi Martin, our staif made this years Atinian successful and hopetully entertaining for you, the reader. Enjoy?
