...Q ka. 1. . , . l ason Fasteau Mark Nothaft and Fred Gershbein Throughout this year, the Taft Tribune has been on a mission. Cur mission was to interpret the thoughts, opinions and events that affected us all. Under the helm of Darcy Rudnick last year, l found the Tribune average in quality. We had a superb staff, but the student body never seemed to appreciate or enjoy the paper. Thus, we needed to produce a higher quality publication. Let's see, how does the old cliche' go? Out with the old and in with the new. That's basically what happened. A whole new core of editors led the charge to excellence. Topics such as the teacher boycott, the Aparthied issue, Kevin Franklin's record-breaking point average, the underground newspaper scandal and Gigi's Death Penalty Series definitely made waves around campus. Yet, the new-found pride of creating high quality, well-depicted stories was our real accomplishment. The writing staff certainly didn't achieve this pinnacle on their own. For behind every great newspaper is a truly great leader. Mrs. Geri Siener is our leader. f-ler wisdom and dedication is the driving force behind us all. She holds high expectations of us all and from what l can see, we've met them. While Mrs. Siener is our guiding light, the staff's various personalities are absolutely a part of our success. l have to mention two hard workers: Marc Hergkgwitz, who possesses a speedy manner, and David Weiner, who has a blunt delivery, They are a riot to watch attack eachother. Listen to which golf player l like this week, Mark. Caryn Youtan, giving me herlweekly guy- Scheme report. Allison Bailin, THE angel amongst angels. There were serigug Complications with the copy Cfershbein said- our chief, Rod Cagilli, Oh, l-low could l forget? My ladies of the news page were always a pleasure to work with. l know l was rough sometimes, girls, but l love you all. f fl SHARON LUSKIN WE REMEMBER A BEAUTlFUL 5 WCDMAN The student body and faculty at Taft High School share a feeling of great sorrow over the death of counselor Sharon Luskin. Nobody will ever forget how encourag- ing she was: l'She was always cheerful and energetic, and she had a positive attitude about almost every- thing. said Florence Gam. Before she became a coun- selor, she taught both French and Spanish, since she could speak both languages fluently. But most of all, we will always remember how warm, helpful, and caring she was, not only as a wonderful counselor, but also as a special friend. ..-if E , Y-XNX wa -7: ' of I ll ff! , , Q -HM 1517 X X i 9 1 l , li 'ily '..,r -:r CL., . - ,, -x lil lctlai, X ' .- 0 . -..
