The reputation of this festive competition is one of hopes and directors from Taft's own Play Production class dared to compete and proved they were able to win. Taft entered the seven different categories including Group Humorous, Individual Serious, Indi- vidual Pantomime, Group Pantomime, Individual Hu- morous, Group Serious, and Group Special. Each made it past the first of three judging periods to qualify them for semi-finalists. This grand achieve- ment concluded one of the proudest days in Taft's drama department history. Believe it or not, the Taft group comedy teams of Leslie Smith, Kathy Forrest, Hilary Mandel, Wade Sheeler, Joseph Shannon and director Bob Striegel performed Ripley's Believe It Or Not and took first place. Believe it or not, these dedicated actors and actresses spent countless hours rehearsing and per- fecting, yelling and laughing. Believe it or not, all of the work was worth it when this winning group pre- formed their act before their competitors and heard the roar of laughter and the stampede of applause. Tara Ison related the funny tale of Barbie and Ken in the Individual Humorous race and made it to the semi-finals. lan Flanders almost perfectly executed A Boy and His Boomerang to advance to the finals in the Individual Pantomime bid. School Cliques presented by Marya Matlock, Tra- cy D'AnieIlo, Lauren Oxley, Heather Lawrence and Cheryl Kafka achieved a semi-finals rank. Erin Farrel gained Semi-finalist status for her por- trayal of an excerpt from Neil Simon's Chapter Two in Individual Serious. .loin a clique - but don't take the car, you'lI kill yourself!
