Elliot is a great friend whose knowledge and advice has always been appreciated. I miss his wit and his carefully considered comments on all phases of life. - Muncel Chang Elliot is a dear friend and I truly respect his ability to be both serious and smiling. I do miss him. - Shirley Harper Elliot is a sensitive, caring person who gives not only to his students and his peers but to all humanity. - Richard Hubbard A man of high moral principles, dedicated to students, held in high respect by his fellow workers - a teacher's teacher! - William Kidder A true Gentleman and Scholar, in an age where they are hard to find. - William Oxx Compassion and understanding are the true measure of Y! man. - Alan Scholl You will be missed-very, very, very muchl - Warren Snyder A TRIBUTE Accomplished. dedicated and sincere are words that describe Elliot Parker, a veteran Taft High Social Studies instructor. Soft spoken yet demanding, Mr. Parker commit- ted himself to helping others. But a crippling illness discovered only last year interrupted his 32-year remarkable progress, he has fought the devastating emotional side effects of cancer. Perhaps the greatest lesson Mr. Parker has instilled into his students is the value of thinking and reasoning. His method to train his students is more complex than simply filling in the blanks. He has demanded objec- tives and perceptive analysis on both his- torical and topical issues as a teacher and advisor. His zest for helping others extends beyond the classroom. Throughout his tenure at Taft, he has sponsored clubs and organiza- tions designed to broaden the student's aca- demic clubs and athletic awareness. He has headed Junior State and the California Scholarship Federation. He has also volun- teered his time to work on numerous Taft High sporting events. Further, he has a commitment to his religion and his teaching peers. He regularly attends his community church and supplements his dedication to his faith by serving as a direc- tor of his church activities. He has also sponsored and chaired several teacher or- ganizations throughout his career. ! Judging from his past accomplishments and his strong determination, Taft's faculty and student body fully hope to see him teaching next year.
