IOTH GRADE SWIM TEAM xv' A AH ' J lOth Grade Team: Front Row: Danielle Freed, Coach Lerman, Felicity Bath. Top Row: Stuart Freeman, Rob Petersen, Maria Alexander, Greg Perry Wake up!!! Everybody in the pool!!! But Coach, it's not even 6:00 A.M. yet! Stop loafing- we've got to get in 3500 yards by 7:l5!! So goes the life of a Taft High School swimmer- every morning, 5 days a week from 5:45 to 7:l5 A.M. Since the girls' team was disbanded due to financial cut-backs in l98O, the girls now swim together with the boys. Taft's Student Body Team is composed of boys and girls of all grade levels. Gone are the Stuart MacDonalds and the Jackie Van Eg- monds. New stars have replaced the old ones, including Co- Captains Tom Whittemore and Carol Saich, City Medalist Steve Schwartz and Becky Benson, Girls' Swim Team Cham- pions Kathy and Kelly Danforth and backstroker Marc Kerner. League Medal Winners such as Katie Hanrahan, Brian Strauss, Jeff Gaines, David Moore, Jolene Rosenberg, Simore Van Egmond, Dana Hodges and Janie Kessler loom brightly on the horizon. New lOth grade prospects waiting patiently to make their marks in the school record books are Rob Peter- son, Mike Stephenson, Stuart LaBowe, Joel Cohen-sitt, Rachel Rowan and Maria Alexander. Taft's home pool is the Wood- land Hills Country Club, located in Woodland Hills on Dumetz Ave. New swimmers are always welcome to try out and become part of Taft High School's living legend and tradition.
