Its purpose is to teach its members about basic Christian doctrine . The leaders have obtained a sub- stantial background in Biblical knowledge by attending numerous seminars and college Bible classes. Their job is to relay some of their knowledge to the members. As Bosley Crowther, a film critic once said, Prac tically everybody concedes the vast importance of motion pictures . We acknowledge that they are a major mass communication device of our age and a major new art form . We now know that much of our culture is encompassed and transmitted in them. Thus, for this and other obvious reasons I feel that we should have a new critical sorting out and re- examination of the great works of the cinema . . . Film Club could not have said it better. That is why the club meets every Friday afternoon to view the classics of the screen .
