Knights of Taft High School was created to maintain and extend a high standard of character and conduct at all times, render ser- vice to our school whenever needed promote loyalty to Taft High School and its traditions, and bestow re- cognition for outstanding service and scholarship upon its members. Some of our activities and services this year have been working at Fall registration, controlling crowds at all football games, ticket-taking and selling refreshments at dances, selling tickets for the play, HENRY DAVID THOREAU, hand- ing out pamphlets and helping at Open House, selling dill pickles, candied apples and gum, and run- ning the bake sale for United Crusade Week . Ladies is the honor-service organ- ization for senior girls . Qualifica- tions for membership are based on marks, citizenship, and service to the school . The purpose of Ladies is to recognize outstanding service to the school rendered by senior girls and encourage an active in- terest in school affairs . Some of the activities undertaken this year were the selling of refreshments at the football games, the carnation- gram sale, the New Students Club, a Christmas project, an Easter project, and the spring fashion show. These activities will serve as guidelines for those planned and carried out in the future . 37

The purpose of Squires is to assist the school in school activities. Among their projects are selling programs and popcorn at the football games, preparing for registration, hosting a staff appreciation brunch, assisting the PTA at their many functions, and serving at various other school activities. 36

The purpose of Los Dons is to promote scholarly achievement and encourage participation in school and affairs. Independent of the school, the Key Club receives its support from the Woodland Hills Kiwanis Club. Recent club activities include organizing and participating in a Muscular Dystrophy Walk-a-thon, a paper drive to earn money for the Heart Association, and candy collection for the Indians. as , '. Art Production is a class com- posed of nine members. It is run by the Director of Publicit who is also a member of stu- dent cabinet. Art production makes all of the banners, post- ers, flyers, etc. that publicize school events and is also respon sible for the Taft Marquee. In the fall, a Birthday Banner was established to publicize the names of those with birthdays during this semester.
