l am that desire that blazes in the souls of those Who yearn to slip the surly bonds of earth, To cast off the cloak of reality And soar among the lofty heights of heaven. l have watched them as they fling their eager crafts Through footless corridors of space. Up, up the long delirious burning blue We have topped the windswept heights with easy grace, Where neither Lark nor Eagle flew . . . We have tossed and twirled in the glow of an early IVlorning sunrise, and as the dawn gives way to dusk We are lulled in the cradle of the afternoon sun. Then in the serene security of the starry sky As we chase the fleeting wind along, l have danced on tweir laughter-silvered wings.
