Under the skillful direction of Mr. Otis Kitchen, the band received an excellent rating at the District Concert Band Festival. On February 5, 6, and 7, twenty-one band members attended All-State Band at Rocky Mount High I8 School. To highlight a successful year, the band presented con- certs at the World's Fair in New York. On Friday, April 23, the band gave a concert in the United States Pavilion. After the concert the band toured the Fair and saw many of the sights of New York. On the following afternoon, April 24, the band played at the Tiparillo Band Pavilion. Tag night, the sale of coupon booklets, and concerts given at Crossroads Mall helped to finance the trip.
