ADMINISTRA TION During the summer months the adminis- tration prepared for the coming school year. i Dr. Rushton, Superintendent of Roanoke City Schools, and the Central Administration developed' the city-wide School Improve- ment Program. Mr. Coulter formulated the master schedule, interviewed parents of transfer students, and attended a Principal's Association Conference in El Paso, Texas. The three deans Worked on scheduling both teachers and pupils and Mr. Miller organized the year's activities and budgeted the s.chool's finances. The secretaries kept rec- ords and files up to date and helped the other office personnel. FA CULTY and CURRICULUM U The faculty, Who were the composers, Wrote together the symphony that was the curriculum. Eleven new faculty members became members of the group, and together with former instructors, began Work on Fleming's contribution to the city Wide School Improvement study. The faculty met once a Week, either in small segments or all together, to evaluate present meth- ods and formulate plans for advancement in all phases of school life. The curriculum, which was expanded to include more advanced courses and more specialized classes, marked the growth and change that typifies the goal of all American education, namely, to give all students the best training which good facilities and carefully planned courses can offer.
