f v 1-Sf .A 4 Ah' i as g, M Foreword As we began our senior year, many of us Af looked forward to our happiest school session. I i-f ri' sy We knew there would be fun- acked moments, P es ' however, we did not once forget the serious prep- X aration for life which lay before us. Our high x ri school years will help us to meet the future with a greater and happier outlook on the world. That is our hope for you as you turn the pages of this annual, and recall the happy moments the pictures of fellow-students may bring to mind. Since we want to remember Fleming and the things for which she stood, we chose the SENIOR RING as the theme of our yearbook. Many seniors selected the blue stone, which symbolizes the traditional Fleming colors, blue and gold. Others preferred the red or black stones, for reasons unknown to us, but we are sure their ring means just as much. On one side of the ring is a picture of Colonel William Fleming, for whom our school was named. We think he would be proud to know we still honor his name and cherish the ideals he established. On the opposite side of the ring is the picture of the school. We shall never forget our experiences in the halls of our Alma Mater, whether they were happy or sad. We shall always look forward to coming back in later l years to refresh our memories of past experiences, s and to see those who will be treading the halls i1ml5lXXNTf1n'm im' we once trod. Somehow, when we're seniors, though, we look back over the past five years-years that we thought of as being interminable-years that secretly sped by so quickly. Feeling and remembering living pictures from these five cherished years of our lives, we become aware of an odd sensation, for, even though Fleming is young, her traditions are well-rooted. There is a spirit in the school, gracefully overshadowing all the work, the troubles and the fun that come from these years. As we walk down the halls each clay, we are not aware that we are establishing new goals and carrying forth the traditions that make the feeling of belonging, of honor, of loyalty. As the time draws nearer and we think of leaving, we are very much aware of these traditions and of the students who have trod and widened the same path before us. They have given us a better feeling of security to aid us in climbing the steps to our next portal in life. It is with this slow realization and eternal memory that we, the Senior Class of '48, do hereby dedicate our annual to the traditions of the school as they are carried on in the many years to come by future Fleming students.
