IN RETROSPECT . . . Our years in BryanT can be compared wiTh a rockeT ship carrying us To The TuTure. The TirsT Three years comprise a rockeT headed Tor our primary goal-Senior Year. ATTer reaching This desTinaTion, we are impaTienT To blasT OTT on The mosT imporTanT iourney OT our lives-The Trip To adulThood. As we look back, beTore Taking ThaT .all- imporTanT Trip, we can Trace The paTh OT ThaT TirsT rockeT. A IT was shoT OTT in our Freshman Year, a year OT cOnTusion and OT The problems OT adiusTing To our new school. One halT OT The class was in BryanT: The oTher halT in Junior High School. YeT The year was memorable. Mr. STarace guided The baskeT- ball Team all The way To Madison Square Garden, and Then his BryanT nine capTured The CiTy Baseball Championship. We became Tull-Tledged ciTizens OT BryanT when we elecTed Fred Von Bargen as our Freshman DelegaTe To The B.U. As our rockeT conTinued whizzing Through space, This sTage dropped OTT and we Tound our Sophomore Year beginning. AT ThaT Time we saw many new sTudenTs who were Tresh Trom Junior l-ligh. They were soon orienTed, and our second year was oTTicially Opened wiTh The elecTion OT our TirsT class OTTicers. As was To be The case Tor The nexT Two years, STeve Kovel and his parTy secured mosT OT The imporTanT posiTions. We were inTrOduced To many new Things in ThaT year OT l956-57. Remember how huge The caTeTeria seemed- all neaT and shiny . . . and The TirsT shock OT RegenTs? This was also The year OT T-learTbreak l-ToTel and The Bunny l-lop craze. Things were really hopping when The Golden Owls reached The Garden Tor The Championship BaskeTball game. AT The end OT This wonderTul year, we were given a hinT OT The greaT Things To come when we received our Junior BuTTons, designed by Fran Rauch, wiTh our moTTo, CelebraTe in '58. The second sTage was eiecTed, and we had only one more sTage To go beTore reaching The deparTure poinT OT our TuTure-Senior Year. We ThoughT our Sophomore year was evenTTul, buT The nexT year was even more so. For The TirsT Time in many years, a Junior was chosen Mr. B.U. Remember Vinnie Brewer, all decked ouT in his crown? In The caTeTeria, we were Tinally granTed en- Trance To one OT BryanT's mosT exclusive eaTing spoTs, The Junior Alcove. Remember Junior Day, when The well-dressed girl wore a whiTe Gibson haT, and The dapper Tellow spOrTed a black derby? ATTerwards, we were TreaTed To a TerriTic Junior Show, and Trom There we wenT sTraighT To The Junior Dance and Dr. Jive. OTher memorable evenTs were The Junior Ball, The b'oaTride TO Bear lvlounTain, The Junior-Senior game, The B.U. elecTions, and even Senior Day, when we all dressed down. Many OT us had greaT Times aT Turkey MounTain, and we all loved going back To EbbeTs Field Tor anoTher Baseball Championship. Our proudesT possession became The Senior l-laT, sign OT our superioriTy, symbol OT our having reached our TirsT goal. For now, aT lasT, our rockeT had landed on ThaT mosT sacred OT all high school grounds-Senior Year. Our Senior Year was a wonderTul year, packed wiTh Tun and exciTemenT. We enTered The hallowed secTion OT The caTeTeria known as The Senior Alcove: we Ordered our rings, keys, and picTures, and eagerly awaiTed Their arrival: we glowed wiTh pride on our Senior Day, and laughed aT The wiTTy Senior Show. As anOTher sign OT our sOphisTicaTion, we donned black and mourned Tor Those unTorTunaTe creaTures, The Juniors. We aTTended many happy evenTs: The Senior Dance, The skaTing parTy, The boaTride, The Senior-Junior game, and The Senior Luncheon. We reminisced aT The Farewell, buT The 'culminaTion OT everyThing was The Senior Prom aT The BilTmore l-loTel. And now, as we graduaTe, we are preparing To launch The second rockeT- To our TuTure.

POSTSCRIPT FROM THE SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT . . SiTTing in my music eighT class, singing Long Island CiTy Has a School, my mind sTarTed To wander. I recalled my music Three class and picTured myseIT siTTing in ThaT same room iusT Three shorT years ago. IT seemed like yesTerday, buT scanning The class and noTicing The people around me, l realized how much we had all changed, and I said To myselT, We've come a long way. Yes, a long way Trom Those early days when more Than once we circled The building looking Tor room I73. AT one Time or anoTher each oT us probably wanTed To quiT, buT we did noT, and now here we are-on Top-members oT The Class oT '58I AT The momenT, we are The greaTesT and proucIesT class To have ever graduaTed Trom BryanT. BryanT has given us all a place we're proud To call our own. IT has Turnished The Triends, acTiviTies, and educaTion ThaT have Taken up so much oT our lives Tor These pasT years. BryanT has been The ouTsTanding Torce which has changed Those music Three sTudenTs inTo Those music eighT sTudenTs. And as our song reaches iTs closing lines and our graduaTion passes Trom The TuTure inTo The pasT we will always remember, BryanT, Thy gold and blue, Thy sons and daughTers e'er shall love.
