xlxasv a English department.. Aids understanding Communications was the key to better understanding in the English department. lt helps the student to communicate bet- ter orally and in writing. The characters we study in literature may give more in- sight into getting along with people, said Brenda Pippin, English instructor. Flexible scheduling was a change from the ordinary traditional English classes. Its biggest advantage is CHOICE - both for the students to study something that interests them and for the teachers to teach one of his favorite areas, stated Rosemary Brouhard. Much planning and co-operation from the students went into flexible scheduling to make it successful. The program, in its third year, was used in the sophomore and junior English classes. Most teachers feel it strengthens student-teacher rela- tionships. Just when you start getting sick of each other you get a change, said Laura Vernon. This team teaching method was a new experience to the sophomores, and habitual to the juniors. Just as you get used to one teacher you have to trade to another one, who grades different, with different teaching methods, stated Dreama Jones. I like it. It helps to take the monotony out of school, said David Colyer. . cs 1 b, , - f ', 1, mf f , .. 'Dm fit 'Q 90' f,.,Y 1 -VN Miss Helen Tandy, B.S.
