Securing one hundred fourteen teachers to replace those who retired and resigned and to supply the extras needed for increased enrollment was the task of Joseph F. Benson, director of personnel, This meant traveling to colleges and universities in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Nebras- ka to obtain the necessary personnel. Mr. Benson prepared the budget for teachers' salaries. He is also in charge of teacher certification. Twice each year, the director of personnel has charge of making a survey of all the students to learn how many of their parents work for government agencies or who are in the military or naval service, All of these are tax free. Since this is true, the government makes compensation tor this by paying a certain sum for each child whose parents are em- ployed by them or are in their service. This is Mr, Benson's second year as director of personnel. He was principal of William Chrisman from 1952 to 1962. e the best for William Chrisman students Mrs. Dorothy Sharon Mrs RUUl1 Arnold Mrs. Louise Davis Secretary to Director of Secretary of Bookkeeping Secretary to Director of Personnel lr1SlI'UCliOVl DBPOVNYIGHY N27 , in 21
