Aida and Reinhold's orientation program at risma Two AFSers enforce cultural exchang Aida Ponticelli From San Luis, Argentina comes Aida Stella Ponti- celli, one of Chrisman's AFS students. Aida is from a family of seven and her father is a correspondent for the national newspaper in Buenos Aires. l-le is also director of the Providence Bank. ln Independence Aida makes her home with Susan Terry, a senior. Among Aida's favorite hobbies are playing the pi- ana, horseback riding and collecting souvenirs. At Chrisman she participates in student council, Red Cross, a cappella choir, Pep club, Spanish club, Future Teach- ers, Nautilus Literary society and National Art Honor society. Aida says, l find many things different here but the most different is the school. You have a completely different system. l like the life of your school and the Organizations to which l belong, The time goes quickly Grid l want to try to learn everything that will be in- teresting for my future life and my school at home. Reinhold Hytrek Sharing his always pleasant nature with Chrisman students is Reinhold Hytrek. Seventeen year-old Rein- hold hails from Reutlingen, Germany and while in ln- dependence he is staying with David Cook, a junior. During the year Reinhold has participated in a great many school acitivites. One of his first maior experi- ences of school life was having a part in the Speech play. l-le also belonged to orchestra, student council, Red Cross and the Shakespearean Literary society. In Germany, Reinhold lives with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hytrek, and his grandmother. His father is an architect working for the state of Baden-Wurttemberg. Stamp collecting, track, horseback riding and swim- ming are some of his special favorites. lt is very difficult to compare Chrisman and my school in Germany, Reinhold says, We have quite another school system than in America. Students in Germany don't like to go America. The school spirit in my school is not as high as in William Chrismanf' to school as much as in E

Selecting band uniforms is o new experi- ence lar the sophomores. This year the division I band got new uniforms so in re- turn they gave their old ones to the divi- sion ll sophomore band. A familiar sight on locker assignment day is Mr. Dan Bar- ham helping students with working new combinations on their lockers. fix The ever busy speech department finds new fields of endeavor in the study of elocution, These students practice prepared speeches and study the work of other classmates. 14
