For some time now the size of William Chris man has exceeded the original estimate of its capacity With the increase in enrollment came also an increase in the administrative duties necessary to good school management A part of these duties has been assigned to the office of vice principal a position held srnce its creation by Mr Gregory Lefever Mr Lefever is well fitted for this post by virtue of his training and experi ence and because of his long association with Willy Chrisman the guiding spirit of the school i Through Willy has come an acquaintance with the needs of the school community the wishes of the patrons and the hopes of the students who fill the classrooms The specific task of the Vice Principal is keeping the attendance records a task involving the collecting and classi ing of the data and the comprlation of periodic reports Mr Lefever s duties are however instructional as well as ad mrnistrative and clerical He teaches classes in advanced mathematics This fortunate circum stance gives him close contact with the students and provides a double vantage point from which to view the entire student body The manner in which Mr Lefever has performed his duties has always been in harmony with the traditional ef fxcient service of the school GREGORY LEFEVER Vice Principal because of Admlnlstratlve Plans Few are the educational institutions and business establishments today which can assistance of capable ones lhe qualifications for busmess and educational work are happily combined in the persons of the four secretaries in the Independence schools Mrs Mabel Alley and Miss Susan Parobok are secretaries in the office of the vice principal and the principal respectively Mrs Alley s duties are chiefly, the actual re cording of the daily attendance Miss Parobok s work is both stenographic and clerical She is ir charge of most of the school correspondence and of permanent student records Miss Martha Hutchens and Miss Ann Price are employed in the office of the superin tendent and Miss Hutchens is officially designated as clerk Her chief duty is keeping the enumeration data, but her day s work includes countless routine tasks besides this Miss P e handles school correspondence, makes reports, and acts as receptionist ANN PRICE SUSAN PAROBOK, MABILL ALLEY MARTHA HUTCHENS Sec y to Supt Sec y to Prin Sec y to Vice Principal Clerk Supt s Office 13 . - . . v . . . . . M islam,- 3 LOWELL G KEITH Superlntendent From the halls of Wrllram Chrrsman have departed each sprmg for over half a century, hrgh school graduates who fmd therr place rn the lrfe of the natron Durrng therr stay wrthm the school they acqurred certam skrlls that would help equrp them for adult lrvmg In the course of trme the rdeals of scholastxc attarnment worthy crtrzenshrp and partx The sprrrt of Wrllram Chrrsman fmds expressron rn many ways through the actrvrtres of rts students the purposes of xts curriculum the character of rts personnel Thls sprrrt of the school of whrch Wrlly Chrrsman rs the personrfxcatron has delegated to the admmxstrators certam tasks and prescrxbed certam qualxtres whrch w1ll frt them for performrng these tasks Wrlly Chrxsman wrshes that xnstructron rn all branches of the Independence school system should be co ordrnated and that the technrcalxtres rnvolved rn superrntendmg the work of all grades should be handled effrcrently For dorng thrs leadershrp and executrve skrll are two necessary qualrtres When Wrlly Chrrsman sought just the rrght man for the task he found hrm rn the person of Mr L G Kerth Super rntendent of the schools of Independence Mr Kerth sees the grade schools the yunror and the senror hrgh schools rn proper perspectrve and helps to pro vrde for each one rts rndrvrdual needs He provrdes for the schools mformed leadershrp and able per formance of the dutres of hrs offrce It rs certam that the sprrrt of the school rs well expressed by hrm and by all those whose specrfrc tasks are well done The students of Wrllram Chrrs man are glad that the benrgn and approvmg eye of Wrlly rests on the work of the Superrntendent and they feel that Mr Kexth wrll contmue to carry on rn crpatxon rn school actrvrtres whrch these graduates sought to acqurre have become a tradrtron of the school To perpetuate these rdeals Wrlly Chrrsman who rs the embodrment of the sprrrt of the school has found an able helper rn the Prrncrpal of Wrllram Chrrsman Mr jesse H Stmson Hrs IS the task of gearmg smoothly the machxnery of currrcular and extracurrrcular actrvrty He shares wrth Wrlly the hope that Chrrsman students may fmd ample oppor tumtres to develop therr talents as fully as may be possrble Provrdmg facxlrtres for dorng thls necessr tates an understandmg of what these talents are how they can be developed and what use can be made of them rn the world outsrde the school room Chrrsman students congratulate Wrlly on hrs chorce of Mr Stmson as the Prrncrpal ofW1ll1am Chrlsman knowing that the tradrtron of good work manshrp wrll be perpetuated I the best traditions of the school. l l Willy's life runs smoothly 2
