The first week of school was filled with fun things for every one. There we re many activities to intro- duce new students to campus life and to allow old students to get reac- quainted. Some of the activities included a taco party and an Aloha par- ty. They gave us a glimpse of what several of our teachers are really like. There was a skating and bowling party, and a BSU lock-in that was ex- citing as well as uplift- CC Talent Sparkles The SGA and Delta Omicron combined to present one of the best talent shows Carey has ever had. First prize was a tie between Wanda Geddie, and Jerry Watts and Melissa Massey. Lssia Stringer was the second prize winner and Kathy Coker won third prize. In the comedy ciiegory, the Blues Brothers won first prize. All Our Friends was a musical re- vue containing musical selections from the 20 ' s, 30 ' s, 40 s, and 50 s. The second act included a vaude- ville show and a tribute to Hat- tiesburg ' s centennial. Wings Wingswas thestory of a woman who had a stroke and her struggle for life after the stroke. This drama was a moving experience for audience members as the woman struggled for her life, or any form of life resem- bling the life she once had. Our Christmas spirit was heightened by huge Christmas cards displayed on the campus. The cards were judged as part of a competition sponsored by Student Government. The Music Therapy Club won first place with a sign of our time, E.T. telephoning Santa. Steve Ward and his crew decorated buildings and a tree in front of the cafeteria. But before final examinations, the ad- ministration, faculty and students enjoyed a joyous Christmas dinner. The floor show featured our own Santa Jack Rogers and Mrs. Virginia Scott Claus. They introduced the Afro-American Choir with Kathy Coker as soloist, the Silver Bells, the Faculty Dames Choir, William Carey ' s Austrian Boy ' s Choir, the Blue ' s Brothers, and a trio with a spe- cial version of the 12 days after Christmas. The sane finale was a Christmas carol played by Jenny Lou Breland, Nancy Lynn Rice, and Dr. James Fry and Mr. Obra Quave reading the Christmas story from Luke. - 4 f i ma. . ¥1) ¥71 1 7 Exoenence Bi e • • anne Evans iss William Carey College Miss Mississippi 2nd Alternate to Miss America )i ' fib ,. When some one congratulated him on his good drawing he said, That isn ' t my best drawing. He was asked, Why didn ' t you exhibit your best art work? Oh, he replied, my best drawing isn ' t drawn yet. That young man was on the road to becoming a great artist. Watching this yearbook take shape from just an idea has been so rewarding. There are some special people who have my most heart-felt thanks because without their support I would not have made it; Mrs. McClure for encouraging me at just the right times, my staff members who worked long hours without complaining, my mom who listened to me fuss and fume when things were not going right, my friends at Carey who were my friends even when I was in a lousy mood, and my friends at church who listened to me complain three or four times a week! I hope that the 1983 Crusader will capture the memories of the year that you most treasure.
