The one we honor seeks to guide others to His master. He is a loving father, devoted husband, a fac- ulty leader, and a friend to the students. He .seeks to .show all that the love of God gives one a Touch of Glory . We dedicate 1980 Cru.sader to Dr. William Claw.son r Bw m _ jJM g 2 iwaE tf . • - ' W B S Hl J Pk -- ij EL Presidential Message-1980 A certain plain, modest, old fashioned schoolmaster, named John Trebonius, always took off his hat in the presence of his scholars. For, who knows, said he, there m.ay be am.ong m.y pupils a great poet, or a great preacher, or a great philosopher, And as a m.atter of fact, he had in his class a chubby little boy whose nam_e was Martin Liuther. Martin Luther ' s tutors were m.any - yet not any of them, are known to fame, and John Trebonius is rem.embered, not for anything he said, but for something he did and his explanation of it. To the simple removal of that man ' s hat, I suggest, we m.ay owe the reformation. I take off my hat in the presence of the student body of William. Carey College in 1980. J. We have so much to work with, so much to strive for. So many goals that are very close at hand. We shall go forth and continue the work yet unfinished by our fathers. We shall aspire to the highest levels that man has the capacity to achieve. It is our journey; it will be our successes, our failures, our page in history— not that of our father. This is our day Yesterday we were tomorrow ' s children. Today we are the future being born. Tightly grasping the torches that have been handed us— hope, morality, freedom— We go forth a little wide-eyed and afraid to our first day of adulthood. H.A. I would like to express my thanks to a few special people: First of all to my Lord for this opportunity to grow once more and knowning I can always rely on him; my staff for being so patient and tolerant with me and also for their ideas and help; my photographers for their efforts and talents displayed throughout this book; my advi- sor, Mrs. McClure for being understanding, helpful and again toler- ant; and my friends for standing by me when I became unbearable. This doesn ' t express my true love for all of you, but I do thank and love you very much. Pam Sellers 9 i
