B ' iMMnninwtwm uttut mf And when yOu work with love you bind yourself to yourself and to one another and to Grod. dedication Kahlil Gibran said, For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life ' s procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite. He adds and to love life through labor is to be intimate with life ' s most inmost secret, and work is love made visible. We dedicate this edition of the Crusader to one who is not idle, to one who is in step with the seventies, to one who works with love and creativity. We applaud one who is recognized among the outstanding educators in his field. He has carried the name of Carey to many places with distinction in a unique form of religious experience. And, he has established a rapport with his students which combines comradeship with respect. For his works of love we honor Mr. Obra Quave. fli f IV ( reg h ifr ; Vf i,i, k ' M ' . Ralph Noonkester, Lila, Myron The President ' s Message WORK AND WORDS THAT ENDURE My words to you, the Carey Family of 1971, are best expressed by the great American orator, Daniel Webster: If we work upon marble, it will perish; if we work upon bronze, time will efface it; if we build temples, they will crumble into dust; but if we work upon immortal souls, if we imbue them with just principles of action, with fear of wrong and love of right, we engrave on those tables something which no time can obliterate, and which will brighten and brighten through all eternity. Our work with you for one, two, three or four years has been a joyful experience. The words which Carey has engraved on the tables of your mind and soul, we believe, will never be erased. J.
