With a uniform sense of calm and dignity, he instills within each of us the ability to win gracefully, to lose s-ithout losing self-respect, and to work to overcome each defeat. To watch from the sidelines as he shapes a disorganized bunch of boys into teams that win regional, district, and ultimately national contests is top entertainment for the sports-minded student. To the Carey family he is our Coach of the Year every year. Because of his unending loyalty and service to the students individually and to the school in general, we dedicate the 1970 Crusader to Coach John O ' Keefe. EDITOR Charles Ernest DR. J. RALPH NOONKESTER Reclothe us in our rightful mind. — Whittier Our college has as its purpose the clothing — and when necessary the reclothing — of us in our rightful mind. The lunacies which are rampant in the world of education today make this reclothing so necessary. Institutions of higher education have lost authority because they have lost legitimacy. They have compromised their distinctive purpose. Carey College has as its purpose the clothing of every student in his rightful mind. Running deep in our campus also is the stream of Christian concern for every member of the Student Body of 1970 that every Carey student in the brand new decade before us will feel the challenge to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. 19 William Carey College Trustees Administrative Council Academics Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences DR. Bullsheet, was published as an outlet for student opinion. Two recommendations that Thursday chapel time be used for organizational meetings were sent to the administration from the SGA. In trying to evaluate and improve the quality of education at Carey, the student government conducted teacher evaluations each semester. For an activity fee of five dollars, the SGA provided entertainment for the student body with Neil Diamond and the Daze of the Week during the fall semester. As service to students, the SGA made provisions for obtaining ID cards, sponsored many movies on campus, and operated the Rcc. Room. The student body is kept informed of SGA actions through SGA chapel programs and through open SGA meetings. One main accomplishment of the SGA in the area of communication with the administration was the placing of at least one student on each faculty committee. In general, the SGA endeavors to adequately present student views to the administration and to bring about needed changes on campus.
