THIS IS OUR HERITAGE A college is horn-from its small beginning, teachers are added, buildings are con- structed, and the college grows; and so it was with William Carey College in the year of 1906. With more than half a century of growth and maturity to her credit, William Carey College looks to the future with high hopes and undaunted courage. The face, as well as the name of the college, has changed within the last decade. Both academic and living facilities have been added to Tatum Court, Ross Hall, and Johnson Hall. The building program of the last ten years has provided superior facilities demanded by the increase in number and the ability of the Carey students. Today we take for granted many things that have occurred on our campus to make the heritage that we value so much. The ones who planted the trees on our front campus in interesting patterns, the ones who started our May Day activities, the ones who have steered the physical, academic, and christian growth of our college and have given so much of their time and effort for our school: all of these, plus many more, make up a part of our heritage. The dreams of a brighter tomorrow loom on the horizon. We face the future with the hope that, the traditions and heritage of William Carey College may be retained for our pos- terity and that they might further enrich this heritage. By retaining the greatness of the past, we shall be able to face the challenge of the fu- ture. If this is done, the mention of William Carey College will transcend the reputation of the past, and shortly the mention of the college will recall an outstanding institution— an increasingly important and significant Liberal Arts College.
