PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE Every academic year may justly be termed a signif- icant and important period in the history of a college. The year 1963-64 is recorded as one of the most impor- tant and meaningful periods in the life of William Carey College. This year has been highlighted by a multitude of accomplishments and challenges in many different areas of the College. A record-breaking building pro- gram brought forth the first new dormitory for women on the campus since 1922. An air-conditioned student center ' was realized following the tragic June fire on the campus. The successful completion of the $700,000 Development Program of 1963 has issued in the com- pletion of plans for the Thomas Fine Arts Center. The year was marked by a record-breaking enroll- ment, an updating of curricula, and a new recognition for scholarly achievements. As you view your 1964 Crusader in the days to come, I trust you will gain a better understanding of the im- portance of the past year in the life of William Carey College and of the opportunities that lie ahead.
