4 ••iwiftr . IN MEMORY OF: MRS. PEARL McKINNON Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. These words from the Sermon on the Mount ex- emplify the serious and sincere Christianity of Pearl Bryant McKinnon, who through most of her adult life was associated, directly or indirectly, with the Mississippi Woman ' s College and its successor, William Carey College. As a young teenager she attended the preparatory department of the Wom- an ' s College and later the college itself. She served for a time as the college dietitian and manager of the dining room, with a residence in Johnson Hall, where she was beloved by all the girls who sought her advice and counsel on their personal problems. Mrs. McKinnon ' s home faced the campus on Tus- can Avenue and from here she kept close contact with affairs at the college. For years she conducted a branch post office near her home where she lov- ingly dispensed mail to her girls across the street. In her later years, she became the bookstore man- ager and supervisor of the campus mail at William Carey College. She was a loyal contributor to the finances of the college both directly and through Immanuel Baptist Church. She was always helpful, always gracious, and had a ready wit and a sense of humor that charmed all with whom she came in contact. In fact, she went about doing good at all times in aU ways. Mrs. Mc- Kinnon was laid to rest last April 8 after a lingering illness from heart trouble which had claimed her two days before. We are saddened by the loss of her physical presence. We are enriched by an abiding memory of her pleasant and gracious ways. We are com- forted and consoled by the assurance of our faith that she has gone to an everlasting spiritual re- ward. And though from out our bourn of time and place The flood may bear me far: I hope to meet my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar. — Tennyson 17

THE PRESIDENT What is there left to say? If the WORDS we have directed toward your education at Carey College could be placed end to end they would reach around the world. Words are but vehicles for IDEAS. When they are forgotten, the IDEALS which they carried are often in the hearts of the heavens. The contribution that Carey College has made to your lives has been given in the depths of life, where attitudes are absorbed through contact with warm Chris- tian personalities. After several months at Carey, you know that this influence is directed toward certain goals. It points you toward a useful life, dedicated to high Christian IDEALS. To be a faithful alumnus of William Carey College is to be de- voted to these IDEALS. . Lj fd UrJuJZr- 19
