l r ♦ - PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE To the Students of William Carey College 1955-56 Clear conception and bold execution are two requirements of great achievement; when matched with endurance and an imagination on fire with creative impulse, there is no known limit to what might be accomplished. If I sought to inspire your highest accomplishment, I could well say, in your pursuit of an education, get a knowledge of the basic facts of life. Get the facts con- cerning the realm of materialism and of personality- -human and divine. Confucius said, The wise men of antiquity, when they wished to make the whole world peaceful and happy, first put their own States into proper order. Before putting their States into proper order, they regulated their own families. Before regulating their families, they regulated themselves. Before regulating themselves, they tried to be sincere in their thoughts. Before being sincere in their thoughts, they tried to see things exactly as they really were. See the facts as they really are. See facts as they ought to be; then dare to create in your time that world all men wish for, and some at a distance see! If you will so regulate your life the result in your time, to you, will doubtless be crucifixion but in God ' s time greatness will ensue. By God ' s grace to be great, to God, is nowhere to be small to any. 1. E. Rouse
