FACING THE FUTURE As carried in our catalogues and frequently quoted, the aim of Mississippi Woman ' s College is to afford young ladies the advantages of higher education under positive Christian influence. For twenty-seven years this program has been in progress on this campus. Graduates are in service throughout the world. We have addressed ourselves more recently to certain forward steps that will facilitate the accomplishment of our aim and enhance the attractiveness of our pro- gram. We renew our invitation that all friends, especially alumnz and former stu- dents, join us in working toward the following objectives, which involve both achieve- ment and conservation: 1. Stabilization of Endowment. As is probably well understood, endowment is for the purpose of producing income and is to be evaluated accordingly. The total of our endowment, actual and subscribed, stood as of March 1, 1939, at approximately 500,000. This total must be regularly increased in order that the anticipated income of 25,000 annually from this source may be guaranteed. 2. A Selected Student Body. We have no ambition to become a large school. We do, however, propose to offer and render the best possible service for approxi- mately three hundred students. 3. Improved Physical Equipment. While no definite building plans are now- being undertaken, our vision of Greater Woman ' s College contemplates the verv earliest possible addition of a Library, Gymnasium, New Science Hall, and one Residence Hall. In return for your cooperation in response to this definite solicitation, we pledge to maintain the indefinable spirit that distinguishes Mississippi Woman ' s College. Directing the policies of the administration, permeating instructional work, and consciously present in all student activities, there must be the guiding purpose that our daughters may be as cornerstones polished after the similitude of a palace.
