Jean Clendenning Sallie Mae Bovanton Lillian Lockhart Kate Patrick Charline Morgan Etoile Bassett 99 ( •. r- yke FINE BVW ' l J Lillian Lockhart As captain of the Wildcats, Lillian always led her team into battle with the determina- tion to win. In her freshman j ' ear she de- veloped a good basket eye and led the team in scoring. She has played forward on varsity for the third year. She is efficient and pos- sesses all those qualities that go to make up a good ball player. Next year she should be even better. JosiE Butler Another star from Star is Josie. Although a Freshman, she early found the location of the basket and now she does not have to look at it to put the ball in. WiLMA Francis Wilma ' s height made her a valuable player in center. She made varsity in her freshman year and has been one of the main props of the team ever since. When she reaches up to pull the ball out of the clouds 5 ' ou just know the Wildcat team is slated for another victory. Her place wi ll be hard to fill. Kate Patrick The guard position is well taken care of by Kate. Her playing was marked by more than average ability. She will be a real as- set to the team next year. Etoile Bassett Etoile developed into a good floor player and her indomitable fight made her one of the bright lights on the team. She played in cen- ter for two seasons and built up a record that will last a lifetime. ■1931 sVi -yj T - ' . r K A FINE BURR . i t. Charline Morgan Charliiie is business manager and guard. She played a fast and aggressive game both on the defensive and offensive. It is hard for our own forwards to evade Charline. Beatrice Rushing Beatrice makes Etoile ' s place interesting. Where there is one there is the other. Next year she will be even better. Mary Dorothy Walker Mary Dorothy was always ready to take Kate ' s or Charlie ' s place, and she filled her position well. Amy Stroud Amy, next year, will be one of the most versatile girls on the team. She is capable and willing to play any position. Ruth Davis Ruth will probably take Vilma ' s place next year as jumping center. She is always in the air before the ball is. Hilda Tims Hilda played like an old hand this season. She will hold down her position on the team next year. •I93ig - K A PINE BURR ' . ii lJfe §1931 - ■■■MAY QUEEN ' ■1931 yT J.A y te PINE BURRfe Mi l t. And has it been an ordeal? Well, you have no idea unless you ' ve been on the Annual Staff; but we don ' t mind. If you ' re satisfied, our work has been more than worthwhile. It ' s been a pleas- ure — yes, a pleasure never to be erased from our memory. We give this Pine Burr of 1931 to you, hoping that it may have a deeper meaning to you as the years roll by. We hope that in the future you may look through these pages and live again some of your happiest days. May they re- call faces of friends tried and true — things, places and events. We owe a debt of gratitude to the members of the staff who have worked hard in making this volume, which is a product of many hours of toil, worry, and misunderstandings. We want to thank the members of the faculty and the student body for their co-operation in compiling this book, simple as it may seem. We could never have made it with- out their aid. It is our parting will not to criticize our mistakes too severely. We have labored under difficulties. We have given our thoughts for many hours, days and months — for the dear old school that we love with an increasing devotion. We have made the Pine Burr for you and have given all gladly. May peace and happiness be yours forever. Dimple Lott, Editor-in-Chief.
