The Student Council is' a representative body ofthe S.C.A. composed of representatives from each homeroom and the officers of the S.C,A. The body meets monthly to plan the ac- tivities of the S.C.A. They were sponsored by the S.C.A. and appeared on the show four times being defeated on December 26th by Staunton River High School. but are designed to promote better citizenship, to recognize scholarship, to promote greater understanding between students and faculty, to provide for exchange of ideas among schools, and to secure good school publicity. :L ff Kitty Arrowood, who was in charge of the S.C.A. The F.T.A. in high school seeks 1- to enable its members to study the qualities, traits, and aptitudes basic to successful teaching, 2 - to inform members of the many and varied career opportunities related to teaching, 3- to develop anunderstanding ofthe purposes and objectives the contributions they have to make to our dem- ocratic free society, 4- to provide experiences to assist students in developing readiness for college and for making a choice of a career, 5- to keep in the recruitment of competent teachers for the future. of our nation's schools, and an appreciation of N One service offered by the F.T,A, is that of assisting teachers. The William Campbell High School Stu- dents Cooperative Association is affiliated with the Lynchburg District S.C.A. and the State S.C .A. both of which meet annually. The membership includes all high school stu- dents from grade eight through twelve and holds its m e eting s monthly in the school gymnasium. Mr. Edwin Temples awards a Selnio to Cynthia Burch for being high salesman in the magazine drive. Cynthia, who also receiveda camera, sold 349.00 worth of magazines. N 68
