Convention was held at Appomattox High School, Appomattox, Virginia, October 19, 1963. The theme was ATTAINING NEW HEIGHTS. SIPA Becky Vassar, Janice May, Mary Hugh Dot- son, Mr. Kenneth Booth, CSponsorlg Cynthia Nester, Joan Woodall, Donna Perrow. The Southern Interscholastic Press Associa- tion Convention was held at Lexington, Vir- ginia, April 25-27, 1963. The SIPA, founded in 1925, is sponsored by the Lee Memorial Journalism Foundation of Washington and Lee University for the purpose of uniting in a common organization scholastic journalists from the southern states and the District of Columbia. BETA Mrs. Elsie Payne Guthrie, fSpons o r jg Miss Frieda Hamlet, Frances Phillips, Sibyl Woos- ley. The Virginia State Beta Club Convention was held at John Marshall Hotel in Richmond March 15-16, 1963. The theme of the con- vention was TEENAGE COMPLACENCY. There were 1547 students registered. Miss Hamlet and Mrs. Guthrie accompanied the delegates from William Campbell.

On July 7-13, these membe rs of the junior class were delegates to Boys' and Girls' State at V.P.I. at Blacksbu rg and Radford College at Radford. They were sponsored by the William Campbell Parent-Teacher Asso- ciation, the Brookneal Senior Woman's Club, and the Brookneal Lions Club. FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA DELEGATES Becky Vassar, Mrs. Myrtle Straw fSponsorJ Brenda Davis, Donna Sue Puckett. The F.T.A. State Convention was held in Rich- mond on November 22 and 23.
