Now, 1960-61 draws to a close, and a whole decade has elapsed. We are proud to have been a part of this decade and all that it stands for. The fun that we have had, the many experi- ences and friendships that we have shared, and even the Work that we have done,will make our school days at William Campbell stand out as the most cherished days in our lives. William Campbell High School William Campbell High School, an ac- credited, five-year high school, is located on Highway 501, Naruna, Vi r gi n i a . William Campbell is a consolidated high school in Campbell County with an ,enrollment of 434 students from Brookneal, Gladys, and Naruna. The members of the high school faculty total 23. Mr. James E. Strickler has been principal of William Campbell during our first decade. William Campbell was established in 1950 and had an enrollment of 251 students and 16 high school faculty members. The school was named for General William Campbell, who dis- tinguished himself because of his heroism in thexbattle at King' s Mountain during the Revo- lutionary War. The basketball and baseball teams are known as the Generals. The main building has 9 regular class- rooms, 2 science laboratories, atyping room, art room, music room, projection room, home economics department, gymnasium, library, cafeteria, and offices. Plans have been ap- proved for the addition of a new wing to the building. The elementary school building is directly behind the high school building.
