William Campbell High School is an accredited, five-year high school located at Naruna, on Highway 501, in Campbell County, Virginia. It was established in 1951 as a result of the consolidation of the high schools in Gladys, Naruna, and Brookneal, and the fifth year of high school was added in 1952. It is named for William Campbell, a General who dis- tinguished himself because of his heroism in the battle at King's Mountain during the Revolutionary War. The basketball and baseball teams are known as the Generals. The main building has 9 regular classrooms, 2 science laboratories, a typing room, art room, music room, projection room, home economics department, gymnasium, library, cafeteria, and offices. The Elementary School building is directly behind the High School building and is attended by children from Naruna. The Agriculture building is to the right of the main building and has a shop and several classrooms. Mr. James E. Strickler is principal of William Campbell High School, and there are 19 other members of the high school faculty. The enrollment is 385. 5
