Anyone who is interested in the teaching profession is eligible for membership in the Future Teachers Club. The main purpose of the club is to give students an opportunity to learn what the teaching profession has to offer. They visited a teacher's college one week-end. Mary, Emily, and Gerry, all for- mer members of the club, gave talks to the club members. Mary, who is a teacher, told about some of her experiences in her first year of teaching. Emily, a sophomore at Westhampton College, gave some advice on preparing for college and what to expect when one enters college. Gerry, a senior at Mary Washington College who has just done her practice teaching, told of her experiences in practice teaching. 66

The Monogram Club is composed of students who have received their school letters for par- ticipating in interscholastic sports. The club's big project is the Homecoming game and dance which was held this year on January 3rd, The club also gives scholarships to a senior boy and girl who are members of the Monogram Club, provides transportation for basketball games away from home, and gives Most Valuable and Most Improved Player awards to members of the girls' and the boys' basketball teams and the baseball team. Addison Winston, G e r r y Jenks, Barbara Singleton, Johanna Colbert, and Dolly Fos- ter, W.C.H.S. graduates, enjoy a get- together at the Homecoming Dance. The Madhatters, Mr. Sizemore Cpianol, Mr. Herman Ginther Cclarinet and saxo- phonel, Dave Raneyfdrumsj, Mr. Goodman Cguitarj, and Jack Lannon Csaxophonej, played for the Homecoming Dance which was held in the cafeteria. 67
