A group of stu- dents relax while they study. - xmssw For a quarter of a century the boys and girls of the community and sur- rounding territories have entered the halls of William Byrd High School. These students have come with the desire to learn-the desire to become better citizens of their community and country. Their school, situated on the hill, is surrounded on all sides by the beau- titul Blue Ridge Mountains, and over- looks the outlying town ot Vinton. lt portrays great beauty at all times ot the year-spring, summer, autumn, and winter. But however beautiful the building and its surroundings, William Byrd High School would not be what it is without the people who have studied and taught in its halls. 6

These people-the students and the faculty-bring credit to William Byrd by their undying devotion to the school and their many services to their state and country. Because in the past twenty-five years the students have shown their loyalty to the school in this way, they have established Wil- Iiam Byrd as o school of which they justly can be proud. Within the walls can be found a spirit of good will, of happiness, and of friendliness which prevails and has prevailed throughout the years of the school's history.
