Seniors! After four years of working, playing, studying and dreaming, we have finally arrived at high school 's end. When we were freshmen, all thoughts of Graduation were far in the future, and we just concen- trated on enjoying our first year of high school. Our girls were the last to wear gunny sacks to school for G.A.A. initiation. Julie Luttinen, Jo Ellen Stanton, Carol Monson, and Leola Eklund were made reserve cheerleaders. Gary Apolskis and Paul Jancarich made the varsity football squad. With Sara Hambleton as president, we gave the St. Patrick's Day dance, Shamrock Shuffle. We ended the year knowing we had made our first step successfully. Safari was our unique sopho- more dance under the leadership of Ron Stapleton. With the help of a few of our boys, the Troopers tied for the conference champion- ship in football and came in first in track. Ordering class rings was the most exciting event of the year. When they came in the spring, we wore them proudly to prove we were upperclassmen at last. Kathy Finerty and Leola Ek- lund were our junior attendants at Homecoming while the boys joined in winning the Calumet Confer- ence All-Sports Trophy. The Gary Exchange Club presented our school with the Freedom Shrine, and Clark Stubbs finished the Code of Ethics Plaque. We gave two dances for the seniors, the King and Queen Dance with an continued on page 28
