( horns The vocal music department is called upon many times during the year. They give dub programs, assist with the Christmas pageant, as well as giving a Christmas program of their own. I lowever, these activities play “Second Fiddle” to the annual Spring Vocal Concert. This year the concert was given a special place in the calendar. Three performances were given, with 160 students participating in each. The Chorus also assists at our annual band concert, and the numbers sung at Baccalaureate and Commencement always contribute to the impressiveness of these occasions. We have good reason to be especially proud of some of our vocalists this year. Five of them, Dawn M a ride, Boh Voss, Warren Bards-ley, Sandra Englander, and Phyllis Berry were entered in the Indiana State music contest and all five walked away with either a first or second place prize. Some of our students also participated in the 1952 City-Wide Music Meet at Memorial Auditorium, in which all the Gary schools were represented. Both grade school and high school students took part in this program, and it was a great chance for all concerned to sec the work done in other parts of the city. It goes without saying that it was a good year for the Chorus, and none of us doubt that we will see big things for the future of this organization. FRONT ROW: A. Koslauskis. D. Clark, C. Warner, A. The Christmas pageant preceeded by pantomimes, monologues, and choral readings was beautifully done and awe inspiring. “Child of I ler Spirit presented on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday was a true test of the Junior Drama Class. It was greeted with enthusiasm and proved the ability of the players. The grand finale of this glowing season was a presentation of a group of four one act plays, entitled: uThe Masque Of Two Strangers , “The I bird Plate”, “Finders’ Keepers”, and “One Fine Day”, presented by the Senior Drama Class under the able direction of Miss Margaret Labb.
