Owls-W ise, X itty anc I W inning Here’s Howard Youngheim in the trophy case giving some of his secrets to the owl. They should be good because Howard has been high magazine salesman for two years. As freshmen we felt like ostriches. However, we did perk up for our Halloween Dance. Inspired by this success, we had shed much of our greenness by the time we had our St. Patrick Day Dance. In our sophomore year, we finally gained recognition and aided our treasury by selling pencils and purses. Jack Marposon, Don Karl, Ann Peterson, and George Sherman were our officers during our very outstanding junior year. Really on the beaver side we had a most successful Stork Club Dance, a sell-out King and Queen Dance, and a bang-up magazine drive to earn money for our yearbook. September 1949 came and we pranced around the building as only really proud animals can. We were seniors. Commencement, our goal, was in sight. We had 1'om Cook, President; Bob Weaver, Vice-President; Carol Palmer, Secretary; and George Sherman, Treasurer. In common with many animals, we hibernated, but spring found us hustling eager to make up for lost time. The sale of class pins gave the treasury a boost. The class committees started functioning. With the Senior Banquet on April 15, the senior activities could be said to have started. At this affair I lenry Overbeck was an excellent toastmaster.
