ifljis Js (Jhe ecor cl Of Out Tin’s year brought many changes to William A. Wirt School students and staff members. The constant pounding and drilling that threatened us with insanity has developed a grand new addition to the west wing. As we view the progress of this fine new building, we can see that our tortured hours in typing and social science were well worth it. Building, however, has not been limited to the erection of the new wing. In our classes, our sports, and our activities we have been creating creditable records for our beloved school. With students and faculty building together, The Wirt Student Organ- ization inaugurated many desirable changes. The greater number of students participating in activities is further evidence of our school’s growth. We are justly proud of the outstanding records in sports, music, speech, and art. All of these build memories as do class sessions, dances, general assemblies, P.K.P. initiation, Bums’ Day, club meetings, the Christmas pageant, Tom Warrillow as Santa Claus, the explosion in chemistry, trips to the park, visiting in the halls, and that last mad dash to class before the last bell. With all of this building, we present our account of the year, 1948-49, as experienced in William A. Wirt School. Page Three
